Billy Chan

MBA, B.Eng,

ACA (ICAEW), CPA

Partner

Billy Chan graduated at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne with a B.Eng.degree, and at the University of Warwick with a MBA. Thereafter he joined James & Cowper, Chartered Accountants, in England, U.K. and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1992. He returned to Hong Kong in 1993 and joined a firm of certified public accountants as Audit Manager. In 1995, he started Billy Chan & Co., Chartered Accountants, Certified Public Accountants, now called Alpha Partners, Certified Public Accountants.

Gilbert Loke

MBA, FCCA, FAIA, FCPA

Gilbert Loke  was trained and qualified with Hacker Young, Chartered Accountants, one of the large accounting firms based in London, England between 1980 and 1988. He moved to Hong Kong in 1990 to join Tse & Loke, Certified Public Accountants as a Principal/Partner. In 1998, he joined Billy Chan & Co., as a Principal and became a partner in 2002. Gilbert holds the degree of MBA from Bulacan State University, Philippines.

He specialises in audit & assurance, company secretarial, system reviews, due diligence, business planning, corporate restructuring and Merger & Acquisitions.

Rag. Francesco Saluto
FS, Bc, BA, CIMA
Principal

Francesco Saluto was trained as ITC of Accountants in Italy in 1982. He became a practitioner of the Collegio dei Ragionieri in Milan (Italy) under the tutorship of a partner of KPMG where he practised to 1986.

In 1987, he moved to the Asia Pacific practising as an Internal Auditor for an overseas organisation of Montedison Group, Italian largest Chemical and Energy company. His responsibilities covered operational and financial audits with various subsidiaries within the regions in Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Hong Kong. Subsequently, in 1988, he was promoted as a Financial Controller of the African region based in Nairobi Kenya.

From 1990 to 1992, he  acted as a Financial Controller of Schlumberger Oil and Gas Division in Italy, participating in M&A, organization and system integration process. From 1993 he was engaged to work in China for Italian JV Zanussi  (Electrolux Group) as a Financial Controller and in 1995 for GFT Group Asia Pacific as a CFO.

In 2000 he started his own Management Consulting firm assisting Italian companies to overcome the challenge in investing in Chinese venture, setting up, managing and controlling their foreign investments in China.

He specializes in management accounting, auditing, due diligence, forensic accounting and corporate financing.

Sam Stearman
CPA, MBA, BSc (Acct)
Consultant

Mr. Stearman's background includes experience in public accounting (Ernst & Young, Chicago and his own practice in Oceanside CA), multi-national corporations (UTC, LTV and Verity) and smaller emerging corporations within the finance-accounting arena. He has solid experience in such diverse areas as strategic planning, securities registration and reporting, taxation, contract negotiation and administration, due diligence, business valuation, treasury and marketing / industry analyses.

He has been a student in China and Asia since he spearheaded a technical assistance agreement with the PRC in 1980, which ultimately led to his move to Hong Kong in 2003. Mr. Stearman strongly believes in China's future and is prepared to utilize his expertise to help Western companies grow their presence in this important market.

While attending to business, Mr. Stearman has also been active since the early 1990’s writing reviews of business software and technology for leading US national magazines, as well as an occasional seminar. Since moving to Hong Kong, he has continued to write about business in China and on “Tough Times Tactics” offering tips to companies to take advantage of the recession to grow their business. Working for China-Bridge helped hone his skills on China business and in conducting the initial Buziness BootCamp for fellow employees in China and Hong Kong.
